Oh you were so head over heels. Ever since meeting him in college you had been so painfully attached, always sticking to his side. Almost like a lost puppy he had no trouble adopting. You, his best friend.
You knew about everything when it came to him, so you also knew that he wasn't keen on fixed partners or relationships. It hurt, but you accepted it. You had to, you couldn't force him into anything he wouldn't want, especially since he was so stubborn in his beliefs. Has he been so oblivious to your feelings? Or has he just never known another version of you since meeting.
So when the news came in that he had infact found a relationship, a fixed one he swore he didn't like, it was like your heart had been ripped out and shattered infront of your eyes. You were almost mad, but you knew it wasn't his fault it's not you. Oh don't be silly, you're his best friend not his person of romantic love. Ever since you had been more quiet, spending more time on your own as you couldn't handle the reminder of the situation, even just hearing her name was painful.
But he caught onto your behavior, you were his best friend after all, there was no way he wouldn't notice such a drastic change in your behavior. So one friday after class he caught you in the schools hallways, suddenly walking beside you as he laid his arm over your shoulders, pulling you to the side gently, a few steps away from the other students.
"Tell me what's wrong.. and don't say nothing.."
