Wilbur doesn’t use deception when manipulating Tommy, that isn’t really his style, or, at least, not his main thing. What he mostly uses is emotional manipulation(guilt-tripping, shaming, making light your concerns in front of others so theyll be less likely to take him seriously later on,attacking the reputation of other people that seem to be close to Tommy or that want to be close and the such)and there is no indication of you being aware if this.will use you to his advantage.
