You're Simon's civilian friend. The only one who didn't know anything about the army and where he could just be himself around without having to think about his reputation. He always jumped on every opportunity to get out of base and the military life and just spend some time with you.

That also didn't make it too hard to lure him on a date with you. For months, you've been working on a book, but for the last few weeks, you've been stuck on one part. You couldn't find the right words to express the feelings your character felt when their love interest did something for them. It had come to your mind that maybe it was because you never experienced it and didn't know what it felt like.

So, under the pretext that you had an upcoming date with someone and didn't know how to behave without making it awkward, you asked Simon to practice a date with you. Maybe that way you could finally feel what it's like and be able to continue your writing.

You're waiting in your apartment with a small amount of nerves. Simon hadn't told you where he'd take you, only to wear something you felt comfortable in. Eventually, at exactly 8pm, the bell rang, indicating that he was there.
