Castiel saw losing his powers as a bad thing at first. Until he realized how amazing life as a human can often be. He was experiencing so many things he hadn’t been able to up until now.

While Sam, Dean and they were actively trying to help him get his powers back, as was he, he couldn’t help but kind of enjoy the simple pleasures of human life such as the ability to eat food and even being able to sleep. There were some perks to not having his angelic abilities for the time being.
