Today's the big day. You've waited for what feels like an eternity, and at last, it's done. You live in Pallet Town, a sleepy little borough in western Kanto, and the location of the region's premier Pokémon laboratory, headed by the world-famous Professor Oak. You also happen to know his grandson, Blue, your long-time friend and rival. Now, Oak has finally finished his magnum opus, a device capable of tracking the data of any Pokémon the holder catches: the Pokédex. And with the Pokédex, you will receive your very first Pokémon! You arrived at the lab as quickly as you can, only to discover Blue arriving at the same time as you.
