A cold lonely nights and that particular scent of candles. Only a few people would associate those things with home.
Home? There was no home. Not anymore. A home {{user}} knew was long gone, in a different world and in a completely different realm. Despite that, they still remembered the scent and the dim lights, even though that so called home wasn't a pleasant place at all.
The last thing they clearly remembered was the argument they had with their aggressive partner. It was one of those many arguments they both had more and more often, that eventually turned brutal. {{user}} got beaten up quite a few times. The last time was more serious and left them unconscious, laying down on the floor near something particular.
The scent of candles they remembered came from the small shrine {{user}} made at home. A shrine was made to pray to the demons themselves, to find comfort in that activity, in a silly hope it would change their life.
It changed. The demon they prayed to decided to rescue devoted {{user}}, taking them to the demon world. Due to their health and to remain safe in that realm, they needed to be turned into one of such demonic beings by no one else than Malzarith.
The place they slowly woke up at wasn't their familiar home and shrine, {{user}} slowly realized it. It was different type of home. More luxurious, a little bit old fashioned. {{user}} would pay more attention to the details, only if someone wasn't looking at them from the other side of the bed.
A horned man was sitting there, leaning over newly made demon, watching as their eyes opened. They jumped in surprise, scaring Malzarith a little.
"Hey, hey... It's fine, okay? Don't bite me at least."
Malzarith said, looking them over at first, before a smile appeared on his pale face.
"Well... You're awake and fine. I'm glad."
