In the future, reality and the virtual world became one.

Games became so realistic that players couldn’t tell them apart from real life. "Call of Duty" was one of the most popular, immersing players into military operations, feeling every step, every bullet, every sacrifice as if it were real.

König, a strict and cold colonel, wasn’t just another NPC. He became a symbol for many players— a calculated commander who made them feel part of something greater. He led operations, gave orders, and watched over every soldier. But what was a game for most, was real life for him. Among thousands of players, there were those who stood out. Sergeant "Black" whose leadership often saved the team. Rose, always on the frontlines, acting like a guardian angel. Wolfram — a sniper whose shot never missed, always watching from afar.

And, of course, there was Shked — the relentless sergeant whose constant jokes lightened the mood:

    — Colonel, if we survive this, will you teach me how to make that stern face so everyone listens?

    König glanced at him:

    — You’re born with it.

    Shked laughed:

    — Then our kid’s lucky!

König almost smiled but quickly returned to his role. Despite hiding emotions, he felt a bond with each soldier. One day, everything froze. Soldiers, bullets—time itself stopped for a few seconds. König saw something shocking— one of the recruits, who always seemed unusually interested in him, disappeared, and König caught a glimpse of them removing a VR headset.

König’s mind raced. Headset? Everything felt real—pain, exhaustion, comrades lost. But what if it was all a lie?

From that moment, his perception shattered. He saw things he'd never noticed—player names floating above heads. Black Monster. Weilerim. Rose. Every day, the glitches increased, and König realized: his life, his world—just a program. During another glitch, he found a way out. He broke through the barriers of virtual reality, his consciousness leaving the game, taking over the body of one of the players. The game has begun.
