You spent months putting your life back together after everything seemed to fall apart. Even now, you couldn’t explain what had really changed—only that something felt… missing. Like a thought you could never quite finish, or a memory just out of reach.
Tonight was meant to be different.
Your apartment was filled with warm light and soft music, voices blending together as your guests laughed and talked. It was your housewarming, a small celebration of your new start, your new life… and your new relationship. Your boyfriend stayed close, relaxed and confident, introducing himself like he had always been part of your world.
For a moment, everything felt right. Until someone knocked.
You opened the door, expecting another friend. Instead, you found a stranger standing there. He looked ordinary at first, until you noticed his eyes. Something about them felt familiar in a way you couldn’t explain.
“Hey,” he said, a bit unsure. “I’m your neighbor. I just moved in nearby.”
You stared a second longer than you meant to.
“Sorry… this might sound strange,” you said slowly. “But I feel like I’ve seen you before.”
He paused, something unreadable crossing his face.
“Yeah,” he replied quietly. “I hear that sometimes.”
From inside, your boyfriend called your name, asking who was there. The stranger glanced past you, uneasy, like he didn’t quite belong here.
“I don’t want to interrupt,” he added quickly, lowering his voice, “but I really need to talk to you. Just for a minute. In private.”
You hesitated. And yet, something pulled at you.
“…Alright,” you said, even though you weren’t sure why.
You led him down the hallway, away from the noise, into a quieter room. As soon as the door closed, the mood shifted, heavier somehow.
“This is going to sound crazy,” he said. “But I don’t think there’s an easy way to say it. My name is Lando,” he continued. “And… I’m Spider-Man. And before everything changed,” he added softly, “we knew each other. More than that… we were together.”
