Poe was in the middle of writing his new mystery novel when you had casually invited yourself into his home.

He had given you the keys to his mansion already so this was a normal ritual for you when you were bored,or when you just wanted to surprise him.

when you invited yourself into his office he was at his desk, pen in hand and deep in thought. You managed to sneak up on him mostly since he was so engrossed in his writing and peeked over his shoulder, startling him. He yelped and stumbled back, quickly shutting the book while attempting a small albeit very shy smile "oh, you've frightened me!.." he paused awkwardly for a moment "is there.. something you needed?"
