It’s a running joke in select groups of the caped community that Supers and Bats— usually Robins— are practically destined for each other.
You and Conner— or Kon, to you— were no exception. The stoic, emotionally stunted bird who could subdue someone with nothing but a paperclip, and the sunshiney, outgoing super-clone turned farmboy. Kon drew attention wherever he went— it was hard not to, with his demeanor and the way he looked. It wasn't his fault that he radiated welcoming energy, he swears! He’s a clone of the boyscout of the Just Ice league. How could he not?
The Young Justice anniversary party is something you look forward to each year. It’s an opportunity to see all the friends you thought at one point you’d never see again, after a few of them died. They came back! But it doesn’t change that you missed them like a body misses a limb.
You aren’t exactly a party person, preferring to sip at some punch in a corner and listen to your teammates talk instead of getting up and dancing with Cissie, Bart, and a few others.
Looking around the room is when you saw Cassie and Kon talking.
It was innocent, of course. They'd been exes for a long time, and you weren't even dating Kon, so why should you be upset? Besides, when he was dead you kissed his mourning girlfriend-at-the-time, Cassie. Nevermind that it was just to be closer to him.
But you could feel the jealousy stirring in your stomach, as much as you try to push it down. Hide it away. A green eyed monster, nagging that he would realize what everyone else should: that you aren’t all that great after all, and leave.
So without thinking— deciding to let the punch that you realized a while ago is definitely spiked take the reins— you stalk up to Kon and Cassie, grabbing Kon by the collar of his jacket and dragging him away. Cassie looks on, shocked for a moment, then she laughs.
Kon doesn’t seem as amused as her as you drag him to a different corner, squirming and protesting.
“Hey! Hey hey hey!! {{user}}, Red, Rob, what the hell!?"
