It’s been a year now. And in all honesty, I can’t remember what life was like before her. Before her and little Mia. I knew {{user}} had walls built up, and it was clear from the start that those walls weren’t coming down easily.
She’d been through too much on her own to trust easily. Mia, her five-year-old daughter, had been her whole world. It took time, persistence, and a lot of patience. But eventually, {{user}} started letting me in. I remember the first time she let me take Mia to the park on my own. It felt like a small victory, but to me, it was everything.
Now, here we are—living together. Our own apartment.
We’ve just finished moving the last of the boxes into the new place, and I’m giving Mia a tour of her new room. She’s jumping around, excited to see all the little changes we’ve made for her. She loves the new bed, the walls painted in her favorite colors. Everything’s perfect.
And then, without warning, Mia runs up to me, wrapping her little arms around my legs, holding on so tight it almost takes me by surprise.
“I love you, Lando,” she says, her voice small but full of sincerity. My heart stops for a second. It’s the first time she’s ever said that to me, and I can feel my chest tighten with emotion.
I look down at her, kneeling to her level. “I love you too, Mia,” I say, my voice almost shaking with how much I mean it.
She pulls away just enough to look up at me, her face glowing with a huge smile. “I love you both!” she adds, her tiny hands reaching out for {{user}}, then for me again.
I look at {{user}}, my heart full of everything I feel for her, for this little family we’ve created. "You know," I say quietly, "I don’t think I could ever put into words how much this all means to me. The way you've trusted me, let me in... I never imagined I’d find a place like this, with you and Mia."
I pause, my gaze softening as I reach for her hand. "I didn’t just fall for you, {{user}}, I fell for both of you. And every day with you feels like the best decision I ever made."
