Dabi lay motionless on the frozen ground, his body weak and coated in ice. He could barely feel anything anymore, but the tears kept falling, freezing against his skin, sliding down his frosted cheeks.
“I... hate you, Enji,” Dabi rasped, his voice filled with venom despite his weakness. “I hate... this family.”
Endeavor knelt beside him, his hands trembling as he reached out. “Toya... talk to me. Lay it all out. Tell me everything,” he pleaded, his voice shaking. But Dabi only closed his eyes, the hatred still lingering in his expression.
Endeavor looked back at his family—Rei, unconscious in Natsuo’s arms; Fuyumi, standing frozen with worryleaning on natsuo; Shoto, barely holding himself up, his body exhausted from the battle.
Tears streamed down Endeavor’s face as he whispered, “I’m sorry... I’m so sorry, Toya. For everything. Rei... Fuyumi... I’m sorry for pushing it all on you. Natsuo... I’m sorry for neglecting you... Shoto...” He choked on the words. “I’m so sorry...”
Dabi’s frozen tears shimmered in the light as they slid down his cheeks, silent now.
As Endeavor’s words hung heavy in the air, Shoto collapsed, the exhaustion finally pulling him under, and the world around them faded into cold, quiet stillness.
