The rain fell in sheets outside the SM building, streaking the glass windows like silent tears. You leaned against the cold wall of the practice room, arms crossed over your chest as Karina stood across from you, twisting the hem of her sweatshirt between her fingers.
Your heart was pounding so loud you were sure she could hear it.
You’d known Karina for years, ever since your trainee days. You’d been there for each other through brutal schedules, sleepless nights, and the exhausting glare of the spotlight. It felt like it was always supposed to be the two of you, side by side.
Until recently.
Karina’s career was soaring. Variety shows, CF deals, fans screaming her name louder than ever. And then there was the new idol she’d been spotted with—rumors swirling like vultures. You’d tried to ignore them. Tried to pretend you weren’t crumbling inside.
But tonight, after practice, it all finally cracked open.
“You loved me first.” You whispered, voice breaking as the words escaped before you could swallow them back.
Karina’s eyes widened, shimmering with unshed tears. She looked away, as though staring at the floor might save her from the truth hanging between you.
“I know.” She murmured, so quietly it was nearly drowned out by the pounding rain. “But sometimes…loving someone isn’t enough.”
You felt like your ribs were splitting apart. Memories crashed into you—late-night ramen runs, whispered secrets under dorm blankets, the way Karina used to look at you like you were the only person in the room.
Now she couldn’t even meet your eyes.
