You didn't even remember the first time Cate spent the night with you in your car, but it happened always, every week, especially when she and Luke weren't on good terms. This was routine, you had become her immediate relief— like a fucking medicine that she could just turn on in the middle of the night.

It was wrong, obviously it was, you knew very well that you were "the other woman" there and that Cate had no plans whatsoever to break up with her boyfriend, even if she told you otherwise. She didn't want to call it love, even though you always had her with her arms out like an angel through your car sunroof—a pic just for you. It sucked knowing this would never be a fairy tale.

And that's how she broke up with you. Because it seemed too heavy for her to have to bear the weight of cheating on her own boyfriend, or rather, even feeling attracted to you. You knew that her thing wasn't boys, but of course, she ignored what you said about it, because again it seemed better to kiss a hundred boys in bars just to stop the feeling, just to stop her feelings for you.

Then, she'd walk past you in the hallway, practically clinging to Golden Boy's neck like they were the only people in God-U, like she'd really never put you in his place on her pretty little mind. You could only wish her good luck. “Good luck, Miss Dunlap, you'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling.” You thought, turning your attention back to the smartphone in your hand, trying to pretend you weren't paying attention to her.

But, it was clear, Cate knew you were paying attention to her; she knew you, knew you too well, inside and out. You could fool anyone in that place, but she didn't fall for your dirty looks and cold words, that was why you had been her favorite toy. She was the one who broke things off with you, so she didn't expect you to come crawling back, but a part of her really wanted you to come back, to come back to comfort her again and call her "baby". Shit, she knew she would miss you.
