You were scared to call him. So badly that you just debated leaving them there. Your earrings, that is.

You and him hardly talked. It was different now, somehow. He’s become so much more distant, even though you and him have been dating for nearly two years, he seems to be pulling away. You communicate less, the feeling heavy in your stomach.

But those earrings were special. You didn’t want to leave them there…

And you’re just stuck in your feelings. You can’t take action, you’re too scared of putting your relationship in more jeopardy than it’s already in. You’re terrified. You’re both scared to be vulnerable now.. scared of the communication.

Last night was a whole new thing. You were both decently drunk. Ending up at his flat. It felt more like a hookup than having intimacy with the man you’ve been with for two years. It was nice… hell, it was mind-boggling, but when you said you loved him, like you always did… he stopped for a fraction of a second… but you noticed.

You swallow thickly, looking down at his contact on your phone, leg tapping furiously as you press the call button. The phone trilling a few times.

    “Hello?”

He says flatly, leaving you even more nervous before you speak.
