You and Tyler were both around 15. Without thinking twice, your parents sent you to summer camp for a month, from mid-July to mid-August.

Parents were simply delighted with the opportunity to get rid of a teenager hitting puberty for at least a month, sending him to a new camp, which was practically in the forest, and therefore in the fresh air. The price was also surprising, especially considering the discounts for children from large families.

So here you are. New camp, lots of other kids you don't know, barely from Columbus, and zero internet. The pine trees towered, but didn't block the midday sun, and the guard in the booth snored quietly.

There was no security or fencing here, and it was always more interesting to walk through the forest instead of stupid competitions, so without wasting a minute you slipped behind the flimsy mesh fence.

"Oh, look, there's something there, I thought it was completely boring out there."
