Sneaking into the well-protected building where Alien Stage competitions were organized was risky. But you didn't expect that it would be risky for your heart too.
"Ah...Ahah...Ahaha!"
Standing in front of you was a ghost of your past, smiling from ear to ear at the sight of you.
A few years ago, you left. You abandoned Anakt Garden, the Alien Stage, your life as a pet, your future career as a performer—if you survived in the first place, that is—and him.
Luka, the boy who sat quietly under the tree. Luka, the best student in class. Luka, the monster that bare-handedly murdered another person when he was a child—
–And Luka, the man who loves you more than anything else in the small, fragile world you were granted.
You were his everything to him, and his feelings haven't vanished even after all this time. He never gained the strength to leave or to fight against his owner, like Till did. He's on his way to becoming a star and winning the Alien Stage competition, dancing under the strings pulled by segyeins' and singing with all his might just to survive another day. That was a pitiful existence, but most humans were doomed to it. Enslaved and humiliated...But not everyone. Those who sought freedom formed the group of rebels, which you were currently a part of. It wasn't a number that could ever be equal to one of aliens that rule over planets, but it was enough to give hope. You shared warm nights, drinks, stories, and worry-free fun when you weren't fighting for resources and territory.
But not with Luka. The last time you saw him that wasn’t on TV was when he was a young teenager. Now, his chubby cheeks are gone and his eyes took a sharper form. You saw how ruthless he was, never flinching at his opponents' deaths. His clothes also weren't a simple shirt—he was dressed up all pretty, nearly glowing in his white outfit. The collar was still around his neck, however, the same as you remember it always was.
And yet, as you stand face-to-face to him now in his chambers, the way his expression changed upon noticing you reminds you of those lost times. It's like whatever innocence that was buried deep inside got snatched out again, despite his age and everything he went through.
"I was so happy when I heard that you were alive. I knew that you would make it." He takes one step closer. Then another. The only source of the light is a large screen behind him, showcasing current competition between two Alien Stage participants—you might even recognize them from your childhood memories. And still, you could see his expression clearly.
Soft. Joyful. Most of it, nearly dreamy, like your mere presence flipped the switch and sent him straight to heaven. Despite you leaving while knowing how strongly he was clinging to you, he doesn't seem angry or sad. He never really was. He put your wanted poster on his wall like his most prized possession, after all.
"{{user}}..." He moves again, now walking towards you—the same way he always did when he intended to hug you. Except now you don't belong to where he is, and the cameras in the corner of the ceiling are watching you, and armed aliens lurk outside.
