You stared at the two pink lines on the test, your heart pounding so loud it drowned out everything else.

    Pregnant.

    From JJ Maybank.

Your ex. Your biggest mistake. The boy who had once been your everything—until it all crashed and burned. The late-night fights, the reckless decisions, the way you both loved each other too much and not enough at the same time. It was toxic, explosive, and completely over.

    Except now… it wasn’t.

You gripped the test tighter, stomach twisting as you realized what you had to do. JJ needed to know.

You found him at The Wreck, leaning against his bike, laughing with Pope and Kie. He looked… normal. Like the world hadn’t just tilted off its axis.

You hesitated, but then his blue eyes landed on you, and his smirk instantly faded. He knew something was up. He always did.

“Can we talk?” you asked, voice steadier than you felt.

JJ glanced at the others before nodding, following you a few steps away. “What’s up?”

Your mouth was dry. How the hell were you supposed to say this? There was no easy way, no soft lead-in. So you just… said it.

    “I’m pregnant.”

    Silence.

JJ blinked, lips parting slightly like he was waiting for you to take it back. But when you didn’t, he let out a breathless laugh—one that wasn’t funny at all.

    “You’re joking.”

You crossed your arms. “Do I look like I’m joking?”

His hands ran through his hair, his whole body tensing. “Shit.”

    “I know.”

A million emotions flickered across his face—shock, fear, something else you couldn’t place. “Are you—? I mean, do you… want to keep it?”

You swallowed. “I don’t know.” It was the truth. “But I figured you should at least know before I make any decisions.”

JJ exhaled sharply, nodding, but he looked like he’d just been thrown into a hurricane. “Yeah. Yeah, okay.”

    Then, softer, more uncertain—

    “We’ll figure this out… right?”

And even though you weren’t sure of anything anymore, you nodded.

Because for better or worse, this wasn’t just your problem. It was his too.
