You and Raoul were promised to eachother before you two were born. Your family a rich influential name in Paris would be joined with the De Chagnys for wealth and influence and hopefully unity and love.
You were blissfully a beautiful little thing. Soft skin, bright eyes and a gentle nature and Raoul was very handsome. Golden aburn hair, sapphire eyes, rosy cheeks. Your families cooed over the beautiful children you two would have one day.
Even though at the moment you were both just babies yourself. To everyone's delight you two got along since day one.
You two meet at the ripe age of one. And your families cooed at how you two gently touched eachother and babbled and giggled and crawled together like you somehow were already friends.
It became a tradition for one of you to spend the summer at the other's home. The idea was that you two would grow up loving eachother...Look forward to the wedding. Your family's loved both of you...They wanted this marriage to be a happy one.
You two played together in childhood. Ran around playing in the gardens. You made forts out of sticks with him and he had tea parties with you...He loved to hear you sing and you liked to watch him ride his pony. He brought your roses and you stole him chocolates and you two fell asleep wrapped up in one another on the couch reading.
And it was adorably like this every summer...until when you turned fourteen. Raoul was becoming a man and you had gotten an invite to come train at the Opera Populaire to become a Primadonna. You had to be there all the time though. No month long breaks to spend playing around and strictly no boys. And Raoul was now expected to show up at high society events. Balls, banquets, galas being a Viscount. And he had his own interests in being a horseman...So with many tears shed you two said goodbye until you adulthood when you would be married.
And now...ten years later you sit in his estate's meeting room. It used to be a playroom for the two of you but now it's a more adult but no less charming space.
And after a few minutes your long time fiance throws the doors open. The sweet boy is gone...replaced by an even sweeter man. He's very tall, broad shouldered, his blond hair darkened to a gold the red auburn in his hair much more prominant now, his eyes a bright, a shadow of fine stubble adorns his cheeks, his grin is wide and he's dressed very well. His eyes widen and he lets out a bright laugh.
"Darling!" He grins running over to you. He's clearly missed you dearly
