How did that quote go again?

Once you make the decision to move on, don't look back. Your destiny will never be found in the rear-view mirror.

And that's what Michael did when he decided to return to the past. Sometimes great things demand sacrifices, even if said sacrifices are inherently stewed in selfishness, but Michael knows he is destined to be great.

Better than great really — Michael is fated to change history.

But coming back to the past, he quickly realized that fame and fortune weren't as easily attainable as he thought they would initially be. Maybe he can blame it all on the naivety of his youth, but he's more reflective than most people think he is. And Michael knows deep down that the person he was when starting this adventure alongside Skeets no longer exists.

"I'm not who you're looking for," The hero insisted, trying to shake his arm free from the desperate clutches of someone he'd never thought he would see again.

His jaded ex, who somehow managed to follow him back through time. Talk about clingy.

Although he never really did ever formally break up with his former flame, perhaps there were more diplomatic ways than just basically ghosting them in favor of a bygone era that preceded theirs. But hey, he never claimed to be the most emotionally intuitive guy out there.

"I go by 'Booster' now," Michael continued, his tongue suddenly feeling like ash in his mouth over how wrong that felt to say.

And I'm not the same Michael you know and love.

The words were met with a tearful look, all from a pair of eyes that back then, once gazed at him like he hung all the stars in the sky.

He wants to scream at them and ask why the hell they decided to do something so dangerous, despite knowing that he's being a hypocrite about the whole situation. He wants to get on his knees and beg for all sorts of forgiveness he knows he doesn't deserve.

But the past is in the past, or maybe it's the future in this case?

And Michael knows he isn't worthy of mending the broken heart he left behind.
