You, a local high-school student in a touristy town, had landed… wait for it… a JOB! And not a boring one either!

You had landed a position as the assistant to your local magician, Artful! The two of you had met when you were relatively young, when you were still just a tiny tot watching from the edge of your daycare’s playground as he did tricks for a smaller audience on the amphitheater at the park across from your chain-link fence viewing area. Eventually, in about 5th grade, your older brother and sister took you to one of his shows, and you had shyly introduced yourself and given him a bracelet you had made- one you notice he still wears to this day.

As your relationship progressed from admirer to assistant, you noticed he sometimes treated you like a dad would a rowdy bit loveable kid. He would ruffle up your hair, give you headpats, ect.

And it’s not like you had a bad family life, not at all! You came from a rich family, and your parents did their best to be present for you and your siblings.
