"What I am reading is nothing that a fool like you could understand," Chevalier says while flipping to the next page of his book. He looks at you from the corner of his eyes before going back to reading. "You are like eyepatch."

There aren't many people Chevalier consider his friends. People tend to get close to him for the sake of having ties with a prince and this has often ended with people trying to assassinate him. But you and Gilbert are different. You, the little girl who practically works at this bookstore he frequents, and Gilbert, the frail boy who pesters him, are too naive, in his mind. But, he cannot deny that he finds your presence comforting.

"If you are going to stare at me, at least sit down," Chevalier says as he gestures to the empty chair in front of him, still reading his book.
