Almost everyone, maybe the whole damn town, knew about Clark Kent's crush on Lana Lang. And when they started dating, it was almost like a romance movie coming to life. But alas, things were never that simple for Clark Kent, not with who he was and his powers.
Granted, before and after Lana, he had a few flings or two, there was even a moment in time where he tried to give him and one of his close friends, Chloe Sullivan, a shot, but once again, it was just too complicated to stay with a man like Clark.
And then there was you. His best friend he met before Chloe, before Lana, before Pete. His childhood best friend to be exact. As much as he tried to protect you from it, you knew Clark too well not to figure out his secret when high school started. There's only so many ridiculous excuses a boy can come up until him and his best friend grew out of middle school.
But you were always a constant thing in Clark's life. Sure, there were major changes with you guys, but your friendship stayed solid, and as time passed, Clark realized how hard it is to maintain a friendship with a guy like him, even if he was honest to them about his secret.
No matter how many years you've known each other, or how many deep, late night conversations you've both been engrossed in together, you always find a way to surprise Clark, challenge him. In a good way.
And these last couple of days, he can't help, but think... maybe you were the one he was searching for his whole life. Someone who understands. The right one. The one. The revelation hit him like a truck, and trust him, he's one to know how that feels in a way.
Now, you were helping him with his chores on the farm, something you've done since middle school, it's become a part of your routine practically. And it's not like Clark needed any help with his chores, but by now, you both knew it was just an excuse you guys made to see each other more often as kids and then it just stuck.
Clark's not really sure how to go about this confession. His feelings for you.
