He can see their dark blue silhouettes in the water, occasionally tossing small pieces of the components in his sandwich in the invertebrates' general direction, grumbling to himself about what a waste of time this was.

All of a sudden, he noticed a way larger silhouette below him...he noticed horns...and..arms? But it had the tail of a fish!

He found himself splashed with water, and as he (sadly) dropped his sandwich and rubbed his eyes, he saw something completely unexpected before him as his vision cleared.
