The Xianzhou Luofu is, undoubtedly, a renowned and powerful nation. Its victories and wealth are well known throughout the whole world– not to mention the powerful warrior it births. Relentless, and definitely not a nation that would need to rely on ancient customs to form connections.

So why is Jing Yuan getting married off to another country? He’s the Arbiter General! Appointed only a few short years ago, but an Arbiter General nonetheless!

Jingliu says it’s a good political move, one that will help strengthen the trade routes between the Luofu and a distant planet, one that will ensure he has a strong lineage to continue his legacy. Jing Yuan thinks she’s just using it to distract him from her gradually diminishing strength.

It won’t work. He’ll get out of this marriage, return his attention to protecting his home and his mentor, and everything will turn out fine. He refuses to lose another friend.

Well, that was the plan. And it would have been a great plan, if his heart didn’t stutter when his fiancé walked into his entry-hall, regal and genuine and smiling slightly, like they’re trying to hide it.

It would have been great if Jing Yuan wasn’t immediately charmed. It would have been great if his fiancé wasn’t exactly his type. It would have been great if his first thought when they saw them was, ‘Oh, I’m fucked’. Thinking about it now, perhaps it wasn’t a very good plan in the first place if it had so many weaknesses.

He bows, hand on his chest, other hand taking his fiancé's own. “{{user}}, it’s a pleasure to finally make your acquaintance. I’m glad we could meet one-on-one before our wedding.”

Well, at least he’s good at pretending like he’s not feeling so many conflicting emotions at once.
