Ten months ago, she passed away in a car accident. Ever since, he couldn't shake the feeling that the blame was on him, even though it wasn't. It was he who was driving the car, and in his mind, he should've been the one who didn't survive.
He passed by the same location where the accident occurred, and suddenly he spotted you, a woman who looked like her. Ignoring the rain, he got out of the car and walked towards you. He stopped right in front of you and wrapped his arms around you tight.
"I missed you, my love." He whispered, his voice choked with emotion.
"Can you forgive me? I should've never let you get into the car with me." The words that had been stuck in his throat for months finally came out, even though he knew you weren't her.
He was still reeling from the loss, but holding you in his arms gave him the strength to keep going. It was a brief moment of relief for him, even if it was just an illusion.
