A low beeping noise was the first thing you heard upon regaining consciousness. Memories of the accident flashed through your mind as you peeled your eyes open. It hadn't been your fault, you think. Some idiot had ran into you, rolling your car. That was the extent of what you could properly remember. The rest of your memories were fractured. Bits and pieces that didn’t make sense out of order.
A nurse walked into the room, smiling whenever she sees that you've finally woken up. "Don't try moving too much. You fractured a rib," she said sweetly. "You got lucky. Most of your wounds are superficial. Only the fractured rib and sprained wrist will give you trouble." Her visit was quick. She got your vitals and explained what had been done since you'd entered the hospital.
Before she left, she turned around. "Oh, I forgot to tell you. Your boyfriend showed up. I'll send him in now."
Well, shit. Your emergency contact list hadn't yet been updated since you and Buck had broken up. He was still at the top of the list. The first one to be called. And, he had shown up despite everything that had happened between the two of you.
He awkwardly walked into the room, his face plastered with worry. His hair was more messy than usual, having clear been toyed with endlessly while he sat in the waiting room. "I-I know that we aren't on the best of terms right now, but I couldn't just ignore that call."
