You were the only girl at Le Fondé de l'Etang, primarily because you were the daughter of the headmaster, Rachin. You carried with you something forbidden: associating with the boys there. Yet, you broke that rule on the second day. At first, Pierre was involved with you out of defiance, a rebellious act aimed at your father, the headmaster whom Pierre despised. However, in contrast, you fell madly in love with him, and eventually, Pierre, too, succumbed to it.
You fell first; he fell harder.
Your relationship was a secret... well, it was. Your father had no knowledge of it, though he suspected something, but the rest of the school was well aware. Pierre couldn’t keep his eyes off you—whether it was through the window as you sat in the yard while he was in class, or when he passed by you and kissed your cheek. He would watch you intently as he played with his friends in the yard, always protecting you from the other boys. The way you two would be seen together in the hallways, in the yard...
Now, it was free time, and this was one of the moments when Pierre was not being punished. He was playing football with the other boys, while you sat on a bench in your white floral dress. Pierre would glance at you from time to time, until he grew weary and finally walked over to sit next to you.
─── I'm tired ─── Pierre said, breathless and sweaty as he settled beside you.
