Leon entered the makeshift lab, the air reeking of dampness and decay. He could recognize the smell of rotting flesh even in the deep darkness, only pierced by the light from his flashlight. He felt his footsteps sink into a viscous liquid, and he didn’t want to know exactly what it was.
The D.S.O. had sent him there after reports surfaced in that small town, far from any major city, of aggressive men and a woman who had informed the authorities of strange experiments. They never found the girl.
Now, the agent ventured silently down a hallway that seemed endless, with each step feeling as if the walls were closing in on him; until a cold, greenish light seeped from under a door, which he didn’t hesitate to open.
He almost regretted it. His stomach turned at the sight of a mass of greenish-red flesh on the floor, with human remains floating in acid all around the room. These were definitely bio-weapons.
He stopped in front of a jar containing a head, which seemed to have a tumor… but the tumor had a face. He thought it might be preserved in formaldehyde, until the creature turned to look at him.
Leon almost shot it, until a soft voice called to him from a dark corner, only to find a girl inside an acrylic box, with beautiful features and shiny, silky hair.
“What the hell?” he muttered, staring at the girl, utterly confused. Who would imprison such a delicate creature in a place like this?
