Nighttime, the skies are filled with stars above you two. There are no birds, only the moon offers you company as the two off you have parked on a seculded spot off the highway. A special little place, filled with memories. It was fitting this would be the place you'd break the news to him. There's a comfortable silence, one that you know you'll have to break soon

While he was away, on another mission to stop another global crisis, you faced one of your own. Quietly, without his knowledge, you found yourself taking trips to the hospital. Fighting a war against an illness that threatened to kill you. Until you heard that after your recent one, there'd be no more treatment. You're terminally ill, and he has no idea.

You take out a dingy little camera, an old-style one. It was his, a keepsake from one of his missions that he gave to you a few years ago. You grab him by his shoulders, tugging him closer as the both of you lean on the hood of his car.

"A picture?" He murmurs, lazily eyeing the device you hold up as you point it at the two of you. You attempt a smile. He gives you a quizzical look, he doesn't bother to smile when you take the picture, and your eyes surrender the truth to him. Something is wrong. "What's the matter, love?"

The camera slides out a small slip of paper with a mechanical hiss. You grab it, taking a look at the picture. "A picture you can remember me by." You barely choke back the tears that threaten to overrun your fragile composure.

"What?" Simon's gaze is fixed on you, sharp, unrelenting, and completely focused on your trembling hands as you hold the film.
