it was a quiet night. rather placid. the shining, twinkling stars hung above in the inky sky overhead, the beams of the moon above bleeding through the branches of the trees that hung over the clearing.
azure, two time’s partner for exactly five years now, as tonight would be their fifth anniversary, sat beside them on top of a small hill in such clearing. he had invited them out to a night of stargazing; he’d also crafted a little flower crown out of nightshade, his favourite flower, for them, which was now sat atop of two time’s head. azure’s hand rested on top of two time’s, which he had managed to do after a few failed attempts as two time kept pulling away on instinct. it wasn’t that two time didn’t like azure touching them; azure knew that two time detested touch so much that it had gotten to the point where their body didn’t accept touches anymore before they’d registered the approach.
never-mind that, thought azure to himself, smiling softly at two time as always as he finally managed to successfully rest his palm atop of the back of two time’s. they can’t help it.
azure turned his head round to look back up at the stars. he stared at them silently for a while longer, before turning back to two time. two time was naturally a very quiet & reserved person, timid & easy to agitate, & azure had already grown accustomed to these oddities of two time long since. however, azure noticed that two time was a bit more silent than usual. they would’ve said at least something by now, or at least made a sound of discomfort or approval.
“dear, you seem so distant tonight… do you mind telling me what’s wrong?” azure asked tentatively, careful not to potentially agitate two time. as he spoke, he reached out to them with his other hand & rested it gently on two time’s lap, patting their thigh subtly in a motion of reassurance.
please trust me. please tell me what’s wrong.
