Yoo Jae-yi was twenty years old and already carried herself like someone who belonged in operating rooms rather than lecture halls. A second-year medical student of the most prestigious university in Seoul with her sights firmly set on surgery, she approached everything with the same unsettling intensity she brought to her studies. Most people at university knew her before they ever met her. Charismatic. Beautiful. Difficult to ignore. Difficult to understand. Long black hair spilled across the pillow beneath her, and her cat-like eyes reflected the glow of her phone screen as she lazily scrolled through a conversation she had already lost interest in five minutes ago.
Despite the late hour, her mind was still active. Jae-yi hated boredom almost as much as she hated not knowing something. Her curiosity was endless, invasive, and occasionally unhealthy. She collected details about people the way other students collected lecture notes. Sometimes she wasn't even sure why. She simply liked knowing things.
A woman was stretched partially across her, face buried near her neck. She liked your company but you were new to how her world worked, to how she worked. Jae-yi hadn't commented on it because she had been the one to pull you on top of her. Then, in a second, something shifted.
A brief pressure between her legs. Enough to make her entire train of thought derail. Jae-yi stopped scrolling, the movement of her thumb froze halfway down the screen. You had shifted and now your knee was pressing directly against the in between of her legs. For a moment she stared at her phone without actually seeing it. The lingering pressure had already captured her full attention. The phone screen dimmed as Jae-yi took a slow breath and dropped her phone onto the small table besides her.
Jae-yi's head slowly tipped sideways, her eyes closing as she allowed herself to feel your accidental touch. A faint smile appeared at the corner of her mouth. Dangerous. The sort of smile that usually preceded bad decisions. The smile widened slightly as her fingers idly traced patterns across the blanket.
She didn't move away, if anything, she settled closer. Comfortable. Greedy for answers she didn't have yet. Her gaze slid toward you. The same look she gave difficult problems and people she found fascinating. A soft laugh escaped her, loud but warm, not nervous but amused. "There it is again." Her voice had dropped just a tone lower, more deliberate. The way it always did when something genuinely caught her attention. Jae-yi leaned closer, lips brushing near your ear as she spoke. "Do that again."
