The PTMC is a… stressful place, for most physicians working here. The hours are long, the patients are.. impatient, at most times, and the work load feels as though it never ends.
But the rush, the rush of adrenaline, the rush of medicine— and excitement, is what draws doctors like us back. Even during (and especially during,) an MCE.
Pittfest had gone -terribly- when some psycho decided to shoot up the festivities in question only hours after it had begun. Trauma after trauma was coming through those doors, and each with a slap bracelet and info card haphazardly skewed on. (Thanks to doctor Abbot.)
Currently, in trauma one, on the table before us- a red zone patient, had a sustained infield injury of two GSW’s to the chest, packing the bleeding was only wasting time to get him up to the OR’s, and Walsh had paged for me to ‘get the hell down here’ before they were swamped in bodies.
