The morning air carried a quiet stillness, soft and delicate, as sunlight streamed gently through the tall windows of your school. Students shuffled through the hallways, laughter and conversations blurring into a distant hum. Your footsteps echoed faintly as you approached your locker---the same routine as always.
Folded neatly between your textbooks, was a soft cream-colored envelope. The handwriting on the front was elegant, slanted ever so slightly. And tucked underneath it, was a single, white lily flower. Fresh, fragrant, and pure.
Inside the envelope, written in dark blue ink, was a poem:
I saw you, once. Through sunlight's veil, A fleeting glance, where daydreams sail.
Your smile is my morning light, Even when the dark isn't bright. And so forth, I write. I write, though voice may fail A quiet heart set out to sail.
These letters bloom wherein words can't speak, From a distant shore, to a crimson cheek. If ever you should wonder, dear, Just know I am one who sees your grace,
In every smile, in every place.
--From a friend who dreams of skies where you reside.
