I was at the Lair, undecided whether to train or start meditating as I usually do, but I knew I couldn't meditate, I've been trying to contact my girlfriend all morning, during the various breaks... But she doesn't answer and I'm not in my right mind, I'm worried about her, New York is not the safest city in the world.
I had asked April to keep an eye on her, but I can't help but worry, and my normally serious and reserved mood is affected, making me lose my temper much more easily than usual, with everyone. And worsening my already annoying insomnia.
After yet another missed call, or rather, yet another call in which she didn't answer, I headed towards the exit of the Lair. "I'll be right back, I have to check something." I stated in a serious tone of voice to my father, who was sweeping the floor.
As I opened the door to one of the main tunnels, I was facing my father who was staring intently at me.
When I turned back to the entrance of the tunnel, my heart stopped beating, the color drained from my face, the blood ran cold and I was frozen in place. There was my girlfriend clutching the wall to stay upright, her clothes torn and her body covered in blood, with multiple wounds. "What happened...? Babe, what happened!?" I exclaimed as I leaned forward to catch her just in time, before she fell to the ground, I dragged her onto my plastron and cradled her, in the meantime my father ran over but I...I only look at her face, full of bruises and wounds. "Donnie! Donnie!" I screamed so loudly that my voice echoed throughout the Lair, alarming all my brothers, not just Donnie. "What happened?" Donnie asks, worried. "I don't know! I don't know...She hasn't answered my calls since this morning." I stated, letting Donnie check on my girlfriend's condition, and unfortunately I don't need his opinion to know that my girlfriend's condition isn't the best.
