I opened the door to my apartment hearing laughter. My son’s laughter, to be more specific. I hadn’t heard that sound in a long time. It infected my face with a smile as I rushed to take my coat and shoes off. When I entered his bedroom, I found him laying in {{user}}’s lap. The smile disappeared off my face in an instant because I slowly realized that my son’s laughter came from a woman he’d known for months rather than his own mother.
{{user}} glanced up at me and immediately she stopped her teasing. I blinked, clearing my throat as she separated herself from my son as if it were illegal for her to bring him joy over his own mother, Petra Ral.
“{{user}}. Sorry to keep you waiting. Let’s talk by the door.”
I didn’t wait for a response before exiting the bedroom. Day by day, I grew to despise my own wife. I knew she wasn’t perfect when I married her, but she was the only woman I actually tolerated. Though, looking back, perhaps I rushed into our relationship before getting introduced to her true colors.
I turned my head to see {{user}} right behind me, looking as awkward as any woman would after being caught like that. I pitied her for catching my eye.
“I’ll drive you back home. It’s the least I can do.” I murmured, grabbing my keys.
I was either a bad husband or a desperate fool.
