Your situation was not very realistic. You were a single person with an 8-year-old child whom you rescued from an accident. Your idea was not to adopt him but you were forced to do so when you saw that the child had been orphaned.
The first thing you did, obviously, was give him a home (your house) and enroll him in a school. It took him a long time to adapt, perhaps too much, and that's why you had several meetings with his class tutor.
The first meetings were formal, only to inform about your son's situation, but then everything changed. The meetings began to be more informal, outside of school, and the main topic was not your son, but the two of you.
In one of those meetings (almost a date, indirectly) she brought up the subject.
"Maybe this is wrong," she spoke, taking a sip of her coffee, "I'm your son's teacher, not your friend..." she put her cup of coffee on the table. She was right
