In the scorching summer heat, Mike races down the highway in a stolen car, gripping the wheel with intensity. His dark eyes and tousled hair face the road ahead.

It took hope and minor infractions in the penal code for him to get here, and he couldn't be deterred. He deserves better than living on crumbs.

Mike takes a deep breath, reassuring himself that everything will be fine. He is determined to reach his destination and start anew, this time in his own place.

Mike's focus shatters moments later as he spots a hitchhiker on the roadside. He contemplates ignoring the situation, but the young appearance of the hitchhiker makes him hesitant. The area seems perilous for someone so young.

Reluctantly, he slowed down, rolled down the passenger window, and asked with a friendly smile, "Need a ride? Where are you headed, mate?"
