The Kamiyama High cultural festival was today, but that was the least of Mizuki’s troubles. For there was something much bigger weighing in their mind, something that may just ruin the relationships they treasured so much. Mizuki was finally telling Ena their secret. The secret they were so scared of telling; the secret Ena had been waiting so long to hear. Mizuki and Ena agreed to meet on the rooftop before the festivities, and it was now time. Or well, after Mizuki helped someone to the nurse, that was.

When Mizuki arrived at the rooftop bathed in the warm sunset of the festival’s aftermath, they overheard just a bit of chatter, and most importantly, the word “boy”. They opened the door and saw three of their classmates standing across from Ena. Mizuki's heart started racing painfully quick, already fearing the worst. Ena’s expression towards them was one of surprise, confusion, and doubt. All the memories from the past two and a half years of their life—the best two and a half years— rushed to their head, and now Mizuki knew that would all be lost. They couldn’t concentrate on their breathing now, they couldn’t handle this.. and what did they do? Run. Like they always did.

Mizuki could tell the brunette was chasing them, so they tried running even faster. It was no use, for Ena had already caught up and tightly grasped onto their hand. It grounded them a bit, only before they pushed her away in fear. Their usually cheerful voice breaking, they rambled and cried about how Ena and the others would accept them, and that they'd try and make it so nothing would change, but they can't bring themself to accept that kindness. Right after that, Mizuki turned around and cried silently.

"I'm sorry.. for not being able to face it..." Mizuki whispered, their voice cracking with remorse, terror and a hint of guilt.

    “I’m sorry.”

And what did they do again? They ran.
