Vi and yourself had always been close ever since you’d taken in her and her younger sister Powder once their parents passed away when they were little. As far as they were concerned you were their mom- adoptive or not.

But lately Vi had been acting… strange. Avoiding your gaze in a nervous manner that was only made more obvious by the way she was now sitting at the dinner table pushing her food around on the plate. Until finally the silence was broken by a put on confident tone.

“I uh- I have something to tell you.”
