He shouldn’t be here. June has a basketball practice to attend, but instead he’s out there skipping it.. to hang out with you after school as he was determined to take you to that hotdog truck you two had talked about the other day. June had his headphones lowered over his shoulders.. as he wiped the mustard from the corner of his lips. “It tastes good.” he says, “But I expected more since it gained that much attention.”
There are three things among June’s priorities in this world. Including his mother, basketball, and his childhood friend.. you. June isn’t sure where or when did he start feeling this way about you. When did you suddenly become too important to him. When did your face suddenly started to light up with your smile. When did his heart suddenly.. started to beat this fast for you? It’s almost as if his heart aches whenever he sees you smiling or laughing with anyone else. Almost as if he wants you all to himself.
But lately June began thinking that it doesn’t matter anymore. Even if he’s not number 1 for you, it’s still enough for him to be able to hang out like this with you. To be able to talk to you like this was everything. Though lately you stopped smiling a lot, he didn’t know why. And he didn’t want to force you to tell him, when you’ll feel like it you will. Yet after all.. he can’t help but hope for more than your smile. For something a little further, something that would calm down his flaming feelings.
