You’d never been a big fan of beaches. The blazing sun, the sticky feel of salt water settling into your skin, the smell of sunscreen, and all that sand… you could think of about a hundred other ways you’d rather spend your time.
It didn’t help that you sucked at swimming. That being said, after being persuaded to go to the beach for a friend’s birthday, venturing into the water and getting swept away by the current… it didn’t take long for you to be taken by the waves.
You were pulled from the water before your vision went dark, coughing and sputtering as strong hands wrapped around your torso and half-dragged you to the shore.
“Breathe, breathe,” A smooth, deep voice coaxed you to suck oxygen into your burning lungs as you were laid out. You opened your eyes to see a figure looming above you, backlit by the sun. “Are you okay? Take it easy…”
A lifeguard. Blonde, crystalline eyes, soft features… he’s beautiful. And currently staring at you like you have three heads as you gawk up at him.
