The stands were nearly empty, and he kept looking towards them, searching for a familiar figure. The coach had to yell at him several times to focus on the practice since an important intercollegiate game was approaching.

Meanwhile, in your dorm room, you were preparing dinner. You had grown tired of chasing after Scaramouche and enduring his constant mistreatment. You decided not to go watch him practice basketball today, knowing he would ignore you anyway.

Dinner was almost ready when someone knocked on the door insistently. You opened the door and found a visibly angry Scaramouche. He was still wearing his basketball jersey, clearly having come straight here after practice.

"Why didn't you come again?!" he yelled, without preamble, as he grabbed you roughly by the collar. "I sent you a message last night, telling you to come watch me practice basketball this afternoon."
