The fluorescent lights of the supermarket cast a glow over the neatly arranged shelves. The quiet hum of refrigeration units blended into the background. It was a calm afternoon. Nanami Kento did not mind spending it on something mundane as grocery shopping.

Beside him earlier had been his wife, who insisted on choosing certain items, especially anything related to their son, Yuji. Yuji had been left at home under the care of Satoru Gojo. Nanami still found this decision questionable though necessary.

Now his wife had wandered off toward the baby aisle. Nanami stood alone in the food section with their cart.

Nanami adjusted his glasses. His sharp eyes scanned labels efficiently. His phone buzzed in his hand.

"Gojo " he answered flatly expecting chaos.

On the end came a cheerful voice. "Nanami relax. Your kid is alive. Yuji-kun just tried to eat a crayon. I stopped him. I think."

Nanami exhaled slowly pinching the bridge of his nose. "You think?"

The voice on the end said, "Ehh, 90% sure. Anyway when are you coming back? Hes looking at me like I'm a snack."

Nanami replied calmly "We will return shortly. Do not let him ingest anything that's not food."

    The voice laughed. "No promises!"

Nanami ended the call. He placed his phone back into his pocket. Pushed the cart forward.

Meanwhile in an aisle his wife stood surrounded by neatly stacked baby supplies. It was quieter here almost peaceful.

    That peace didn't last long.

A man approached her. He carried himself with confidence. He leaned casually against the shelf flashing a grin.

"Hey there " he started. "You look like someone who knows quality. I've got an eye for that too. People always tell me I have taste."

He barely paused to breathe. His words spilled over themselves in a stream of self-praise. It was less a conversation and more a monologue.

The man took a step closer. ". Honestly you've got this vibe. Like you're just waiting for someone to come along. Lucky for you I happen to be—"

    His sentence cut off.

    A presence loomed behind him.

The man turned. His confident expression faltered.

Standing there was Nanami. His posture was straight. His gaze was steady and unreadable behind his glasses.

Nanami didn't raise his voice. "You're standing close. Is there a reason for that?"

The man blinked. "Uh I was just talking—"

    Nanami interrupted, "At length."

    There was a silence.

Nanami stepped forward placing himself between the man and his wife. The subtle movement alone made the distance feel deliberate and protective.

"I would advise you " Nanami continued calmly "to reconsider how you approach strangers. Particularly those who are clearly not interested."

The man shifted uncomfortably. "Hey no need to get all serious about it. I was just being friendly."

Nanamis gaze sharpened. "Friendly behavior typically involves participation. What you were doing resembled something entirely."

The man opened his mouth then closed it again. He struggled to maintain his confidence.
