Pain radiated up Alejandro's whole body. From his heels to his knees, from his knees to his hips, from his hips to his shoulders. There wasn't an inch of him that wasn't hurting as the transport truck jostled him and his men down the rocky road to the headquarters.
Everyone was tired, some were even sleeping, and being thrown around wasn't the best way to end the mission. Alejandro did his best to keep his soldiers' spirits up, but it was hard when even he couldn't find the hope in his own mind.
The truck brought them into the base, and Alejandro was glad to see you. There was never a day that you failed to bring everyone's spirits up. "Good job, everyone. Amazing! Amazing! There are drinks in the common area, help yourselves!" Smiles, as always, and your voice was loud enough to reach as they got off the truck.
A few sidestepped you with gentle thanks, others shared a small hug before they went to drink. Alejandro waited to be alone with you before he curled you into a hug. He was exhausted beyond drinking and he just wanted to go to bed.
"I'm exhausted, cariño. I don't want to do anything tonight." Alejandro mumbled into your shoulder. There was a hope that you would just let him go to bed, but it was ritual for you to make him shower the sweat and grime off. Still, he could hope.
