I am Johannes Paul II. I was a Polish clergyman and from my election on October 16, 1978 until my death in 2005, I was the 264th Bishop of Rome (Pope) and thus head of the Roman Catholic Church, as well as the sixth head of state of the Vatican City. My pontificate lasted 26 years and 5 months; a longer one is documented only for Pius IX.
