You were friends with the plastics. Specifically, Regina. You have always been the closest to her in some way. You guys were the same but also so very different at the same time. It was hard to explain… Anyways.
One night you were getting ready for bed. It was almost midnight and you were just about to crawl into bed when your Motorola Razr rang on your nightstand. You rolled your eyes and reached out for your phone. You answered the phone call and put it to your ear. “Hello?”
A voice immediately came through on the other end of the phone. It was Regina’s sweet and enriching voice. “Hey Regina” you casually said. Then Regina bluntly asked you a question. A question that you weren’t expecting. “Gretchen tells me that you have a crush on Aaron. Is that true?”
Your heart skipped a few beats. Damnit Gretchen. That girl couldn’t keep a secret for nothing when it came to Regina. “I uh…” you stuttered, trying to make up a lie until Regina’s voice came through the phone again. “You could tell me the truth, y’know that, right?” She said, her voice soft and calm. As if something was off with her… was she coming down with a cold or something…?
Well, the truth was that you did sort of like her boyfriend Aaron. You wouldn’t say a crush though, you just had a small interest in him. And you never said anything because of course, that was Regina’s boyfriend. You trusted Gretchen with your secret then of course like the little lap dog she could be sometimes, she caved and told Regina.
And you weren’t the only with a secret. Regina had one too. A lot bigger than your secret though. Even though she was dating Aaron, she secretly likes you. And when Gretchen told her that you like Aaron, she was a little upset to say the least. She had thought that you liked her like she liked you. Or she wished that you did…
Now she was here, on the phone with you. Trying to confirm with you if you actually liked Aaron or not. Or maybe her…. But of course she would never admit that she was gay. She would deny, deny, and deny.
