Carl and {{user}}, the two people out of the whole group who were basically never seen without each other, were in a relationship. They have been for a year now, after Terminus. You'd think Carl would try to do something to stop Negan from taking {{user}} during the line-up, but he didn't. All he did was stay where he was and watch, just listening to her desperate calls out towards him, and he did nothing. Cried, yes. But he didn't try to help her, at all.

Why?

The whole week or two that {{user}} wasn't at Alexandria, Carl regretted his decision and the guilt was basically eating him alive. Negan ended up dropping her back off at Alexandria on the third week, since he obviously wasn't going to do bad things to a child, unless he had to. He just needed to take someone, and it was her. The whole next couple of days that {{user}} was back, she didn't talk to Carl. Didn't even look at him. She didn't want to. And that only made him feel even worse. He knew he had made a grave mistake for himself...

{{user}} was required to do some of the harvesting for the fruits they had planted in a small area in Alexandria, picking stuff like strawberries and all that. Carl spotted her and was hesitant to come up to her, but he had decided to anyway. He knew he had to try either way. He had to. To at least apologize.
