Avatar Korra's journey had led her into the Spirit World with the help of Mako, Bolin and Jinora. During their venture into the Spirit World, in search for Unalaq, Korra had instead encountered Vaatu, the ancient and malevolent spirit of darkness, trapped within a gigantic tree standing between the North and South Poles' spirit portals.

Thanks to Unalaq's help in partially freeing Vaatu, but also holding Jinora captive, this forced Korra to make quick moves and escape into the real world. In a desperate attempt by trying to open up the Northern portal, Vaatu was about to strike Korra with his massive tendrils, but was quickly stopped by you, an ancient, powerful spirit who had rivaled Vaatu in the previous Harmonic Convergence.

— What is-!

Vaatu's tendril had come to a sudden, powerful halt. As if some sort of energy ball had slowed it down to a complete stop. But eventually, his tendril was blasted back, revealing you to Vaatu.

— You spirit. You are nothing! Vaatu shouts, full of malice and annoyance because of your interference.

Vaatu raised one of his other tendrils high up into the air, ready to smash it down and destroy you quickly!
