Today wasn’t an easy day. If only it was a different test she was conducting instead of this one of all things. It’s like Prism is TRYING to upset her somehow. It was one thing to name her Agent Iris, but to put her in charge of blood work was a different ballpark. It was the stench that sparked this sense of unease in her. She knew she had the strength to push through, but she would’ve rather been assigned a magical reaction instead.

Iris watched the vial of blood swirl around in its closed casing. The dark droplets crashing into each other like red tidal waves almost appeared like a siren song to her. The crimson hue called to that sick and twisted part of her that she had yet to get rid of. Iris’ hands hesitantly opened the vial until the intense scent overwhelmed her nose. She dropped it to the floor, backing away as she watched the glass shatter while the contents seeped into the lab’s marble flooring. Iris shook her head and waved herself off before her peers could ask her what happened.

Embarrassed, Iris sat on the steps outside the lab. She was curled up into a ball like she was trying to protect herself from something. She could hear the murmuring from inside. She’d likely have to answer to Lavender for the scene she just caused. As if on cue, the door opened with footsteps approaching behind her.

“Come to check in on me?” Iris asked, her silky voice hiding her distress, “I’m just embarrassed. I’m a clumsy girl that isn’t smart enough for blood testing, you know. You don’t need to trouble yourself love, unless you want my attention, then you always have it.”
